About Kei

Kei Izumi, MA, LCPC, NCC, EMDR-C

Trauma Specialist | EMDRIA Certified Therapist | EMDR Consultant-in-Training

My name is Kei (pronounced “Kay,” like the letter “K”). I’m a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive EMDR and IFS-informed trauma therapist offering online therapy for adults in Chicago and across Illinois.

I specialize in working with adults affected by trauma, PTSD, complex trauma, and attachment-related concerns.

Reaching out for therapy takes courage—especially when you’ve been feeling alone, powerless, or unsafe for a long time. I believe no one should have to struggle alone. Trauma can keep you feeling stuck in the past, but healing is possible. My role is to support you in processing painful experiences, rebuilding a sense of safety, and moving forward with greater stability, self-trust, and confidence.

My Approach

In therapy, I use evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches tailored to each client’s needs. My work often integrates EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experience (SE), Attachment, Existential Therapy, and relationship-focused therapy. When appropriate, I use EMDR and IFS to help clients process difficult memories and reduce trauma-related symptoms. I also emphasize the importance of building healthy boundaries and strengthening emotional regulation in everyday life.

What Makes My Work Different

I’m committed to creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where clients feel respected and understood. I value collaboration and work closely with clients to develop personalized treatment goals and a pace that feels emotionally safe. As a member of a minority community, I also understand the importance of cultural sensitivity and strive to offer a therapeutic environment where clients from all backgrounds can feel valued, seen, and heard.

EMDR Consultation

Supporting Therapists Through IFS-informed EMDR Consultation Model

Trauma Therapy Chicago LLC provides virtual EMDR consultation for therapists seeking a supportive, collaborative, and encouraging learning experience. Consultation is informed by an understanding of complex trauma, attachment, dissociation, and parts work, including the integration of IFS-informed principles with EMDR therapy.

Consultation services are available for therapists who are:

  • Completing EMDR Basic Training

  • Pursuing EMDRIA Certification

  • Seeking consultation on specific clinical cases

  • Looking for ongoing professional development in EMDR therapy

Our Consultation Philosophy

Learning EMDR involves more than knowing the eight phases and following a protocol. Clinical work—particularly with complex trauma—often requires therapists to slow down, remain curious, and understand the protective responses that may emerge during treatment.

My consultation approach is collaborative and IFS-informed, with attention to attachment, dissociation, protective parts, and the therapeutic relationship. Consultation is intended to help therapists strengthen clinical judgment, deepen their understanding of the EMDR model, and develop greater confidence in adapting their work to the individual needs of each client.

Trauma Therapy Chicago LLC provides virtual clinical supervision for clinicians seeking a supportive, collaborative, and encouraging environment for professional growth. Supervision is informed by an understanding of complex trauma, attachment, relational dynamics, emotional dysregulation, and personality disorders, including Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

Clinical supervision is available for clinicians who are:

  • Working toward professional licensure requirements

  • Seeking support with complex or challenging clinical cases

  • Working with complex trauma and attachment-related concerns

  • Working with personality disorders, including Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

  • Looking for ongoing professional development and clinical growth

Our Supervision Philosophy

Clinical supervision offers more than an opportunity to discuss cases. Complex clinical work often requires therapists to slow down, remain curious, consider multiple perspectives, and reflect on both the client’s experience and their own responses within the therapeutic relationship.

My supervision approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and relational, with attention to case conceptualization, therapeutic boundaries, ethical decision-making, and the complexities that can emerge when working with trauma and personality disorders. Supervision is intended to help clinicians strengthen clinical judgment, develop greater confidence, and approach challenging clinical work with increased clarity and curiosity.
